Davao's BEST Hotel? Pinnacle Hotel & Suites Review! (You WON'T Believe This!)

Davao's BEST Hotel? Pinnacle Hotel & Suites Review! (You WON'T Believe This!) - SERIOUSLY!

Okay, people, buckle up. Because I'm about to spill the beans on a Davao hotel experience that left me… well, speechless. And coming from a travel writer who's seen more hotel rooms than they've had hot dinners, that's saying something. We're talking Pinnacle Hotel & Suites, and let me tell you, the "suites" part isn't just for show. Get ready for a rollercoaster, because this review is gonna be as honest and messy as my suitcase after a long haul flight. (And yes, it's totally SEO-friendly. Duh.)

First Impressions: Smooth Sailing… Mostly!

Let's start with the basics. Accessibility is a big deal for a lot of people, myself included, and Pinnacle seems to be on the ball. Wheelchair accessible features are present, which is a massive plus. Getting to the hotel? Airport transfer is available, and honestly, after a long flight, that's a lifesaver. Car park [free of charge] and car park [on-site]? Bonus! Makes life so much easier. Oh and I'm told there's even a car power charging station… fancy! Check-in was breezy, thanks to the Contactless check-in/out options. And the fact that the Front desk [24-hour] is there means you're covered, even when your jet lag turns you into a zombie.

The Room: My Sanctuary (and Occasional Mess)

Okay, the rooms. Let's just say the pictures don't lie. Seriously, these rooms are swanky. We're talking legit Air conditioning, which is crucial in Davao's heat! Air conditioning in public area also does its part. Plus, you've got the little things that make a big difference. Blackout curtains – YES! Bathtub? Absolutely. Separate shower/bathtub? You betcha. The slippers were appreciated, I use them as a sign to let me go, I never check-in or out without them. Wi-Fi [free] in the room? Essential. More on that later. Free bottled water and a coffee/tea maker – a godsend for this caffeine addict. Wake-up service? Perfect for those early morning tours (or late-night adventures!). And I loved the Sofa and Seating area, really helps to chill out after a long day outside!

THE WiFi… The Glorious, Sometimes Unreliable WiFi!

Okay, so the promised Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! is a huge selling point and it is. Internet access – wireless, and Internet is also offered, too, so multiple options and it's super easy to use. However… and this is where it gets real… on a particularly busy day, the connection sputtered a bit. Not a deal-breaker, but a minor hiccup. I found myself on a video call at 3am when the internet decided to give up and throw a tantrum, leaving me trying to explain to my friends why I wasn't speaking to them! Maybe I was in a zone of high traffic?!

Dining: Fueling the Adventures

Let's talk food, because, for me, it's a major part of the travel experience. Pinnacle Hotel & Suites delivers. Their restaurant[s] are fantastic! They offer Breakfast [buffet] that is extensive, they put in the effort! You've got your classic Western breakfast options, but they also have an Asian breakfast spread, which is a must-try. And I loved that you could arrange for Alternative meal arrangement, in case of allergies and what not.

And the room service [24-hour]? Saved my bacon (or my veggie burger!) on more than one occasion. The menu is diverse. The Happy hour at the Bar? Totally worth it. I always grab a Bottle of water before my trips, but in all honesty, they even give a Bottle of water.

Things to Do & Relax (or try to!)

Okay, so the Swimming pool [outdoor] is gorgeous, although I didn't take a dip myself (too busy exploring!). I did poke my head in the Poolside bar, which looked inviting. But here's the thing… I was so busy exploring Davao, I didn't get to fully enjoy the Spa/sauna and the other spa facilities. But I did enjoy the Fitness center, which gave me space to work out to my own beat.

This is where I need to be honest. I'm not one for all those fancy spa treatments like Body scrub and Body wrap, so I can't comment on those. But the fact that they are there means there's something for everyone!

Cleanliness and Safety: More Than Just Words

This is HUGE, especially in the current climate. Pinnacle really shines here. I was impressed with their commitment to Cleanliness and safety. They are very proactive with Anti-viral cleaning products, taking Daily disinfection in common areas, which adds peace of mind. They also offer Professional-grade sanitizing services. And the inclusion of Hand sanitizer is a thoughtful touch. Even Room sanitization opt-out available, which is a sign they're willing to adapt to your needs. And they have all this with their staff properly Staff trained in safety protocol. As well as Safe dining setup, and Sanitized kitchen and tableware items. They seem to have a good grasp of the whole situation!

The Minor Details That Matter

From the Doorman to the Concierge, the service was impeccable. And I'm talking about the little things here. The Daily housekeeping kept my room spotless (even after my chaotic attempts to live in it). The Laundry service was a lifesaver. The Cash withdrawal and Currency exchange came in handy. They even have a Gift/souvenir shop (because we all need those last-minute presents!). The fact that they offer Business facilities, including a Xerox/fax in business center, and even Meetings, Seminars, and Audio-visual equipment for special events, shows how versatile this place is. They sure have included a lot here

For the Kids

While I'm not a parent, I noticed they had Babysitting service and were Family/child friendly. They also showed a hint of Baby sitting service.

In conclusion: Would I Stay Again? ABSOLUTELY!

Look, Pinnacle Hotel & Suites isn't perfect (no hotel is!), but it comes pretty damn close. It's a hotel that gets the details right. The rooms are fantastic, the food is delicious, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the commitment to safety is top-notch. And while the WiFi might hiccup occasionally, that's a small price to pay for everything else this hotel offers.

Overall Rating: 4.7 out of 5 Stars! (Minus the 0.3 for the WiFi blip)

Okay, buckle up buttercups, because this ain't your grandma's itinerary. We're going to Davao City, Philippines, and we're gonna do it right, even if the "right" involves a whole lotta chaos and maybe a few tears (of laughter, hopefully!). This is the Pinnacle Hotel & Suites edition, and it's going to be glorious. Prepare for the unvarnished truth, the questionable decisions, and the sheer, unadulterated me of it all.

Davao City: Pinnacle Hotel & Suites – A Messy, Magnificent Adventure

(Pre-Trip Anxiety Phase - Currently in My Apartment, Praying My Luggage Isn't a Disaster)

  • Days Before Departure: Oh. My. God. Packing. The eternal struggle. I swear, my suitcase is currently a black hole of indecision. Do I really need five pairs of sandals? Probably. Is this humidity going to murder my carefully curated hair? Almost certainly. I'm already sweating and I haven't even left the building. Fingers crossed I haven't forgotten my passport… again.

(Day 1: The Arrival & The First Filipino Feast - With a Side of Jet Lag)

  • Morning (6:00 AM): The alarm clock, the enemy. Dragged myself out of bed, fueled by instant coffee and the sheer dread of airport security. Flight was… well, let's just say I spent a solid chunk of it trying to convince a crying baby that I was not, in fact, the cause of its misery. Spoiler alert: I failed. Miserably.
  • Mid-Morning (11:00 AM): FINALLY! Landed in Davao. The air… thick, warm, and humming with the promise of adventure. Checked in to Pinnacle Hotel & Suites. Room is… decent. Not the Ritz, but clean, air-conditioned, and most importantly, it has a bed. Victory! Immediate nap commences.
  • Afternoon (2:00 PM): Woke up disoriented, confused, and craving a delicious, authentic Filipino meal. Found a nearby carinderia (local eatery) and dove headfirst into the culinary abyss. Lechon kawali (crispy pork belly)? Yes, please! Sinigang (sour soup)? Bring it on! My tastebuds are doing a happy dance. Seriously, it's like a party in my mouth, and everyone's invited. I may or may not have slightly overeaten. Regret? Absolutely not.
  • Evening (6:00 PM): Wandering the streets, trying to shake off the jet lag. Everything is so vibrant. The jeepneys are like rolling art installations. The scent of street food is intoxicating. Almost got run over by a tricycle. Adding “surviving Davao traffic” to my resume. Need to drink more water, feel dehydrated.
  • Evening (8:00 PM): Back at the hotel, still buzzing from the day, and simultaneously exhausted. Attempting to organize my photos, but mostly just scrolling through Instagram and feeling envious of everyone else’s life. Giving up and ordering room service (sisig, of course) at the last second.

(Day 2: Island Hopping - Because Who Doesn't Love a Beach, Right?)

  • Morning (8:00 AM): Oops. Slept in, but who's complaining? Coffee and a quick breakfast at the hotel. They're a bit slow on the service. Gotta work on my patience. Today's adventure is island hopping! Yay!
  • Mid-Morning (9:30 AM): Jumped on a boat, spray of the water! Off towards Talikud Island and Samal Island. The boat ride was bumpy and I briefly considered the merits of seasickness medication. The water is stunning. The sun is beating down. This is the life! Almost forgot to apply the sunscreen.
  • Late Morning (10:30 AM - Ongoing): Okay, this is where things get really good. The Island: Paradise Found and Lost (Briefly, Due to a Misunderstanding About Snorkeling Gear). We arrived at what can only be described as a slice of heaven. White sand beaches, crystal-clear water, swaying palm trees… the whole shebang. I was ready to become a mermaid. Scuba gear was rented. The snorkel, apparently, was broken. Cue the minor internal meltdown. Managed to wrangle a replacement after some frantic gesturing and a lot of apologies. Finally got to snorkel. Amazing. Vivid, Technicolor underwater world, as if the sea itself was a surreal artist.
  • Afternoon (1:00 PM): Grilled fish and more rice. A feast fit for a queen… or me, anyway. Spent the afternoon swimming, sunbathing, and contemplating the meaning of life (mostly the meaning of my life and why I can’t seem to stop eating).
  • Afternoon (4:00 PM): Boat ride back to the city. Sun-kissed, sandy, and utterly blissed out. Almost forgot the sunscreen.
  • Evening (7:00 PM): Dinner at a local seafood restaurant. Fresh, delicious, and I suspect I'll be dreaming of prawns for weeks. Attempted to learn a few Tagalog phrases. My pronunciation skills are, shall we say, questionable.
  • Evening (9:00 PM): Back at the hotel. Completely and utterly exhausted. Netflix and a gin and tonic. Perfect ending to a perfect day. Except I forgot to buy more sunscreen.

(Day 3: City Exploration, Durian, and the Art of Saying "No" to Street Vendors)

  • Morning (9:00 AM): Started the day super late. After all that sun and sand, my body needed a solid sleep.
  • Mid-Morning (10:00 AM): City tour. Visited the Davao Museum, which was surprisingly fascinating. Found a statue that totally reminded me of my cat, which caused a brief, sentimental moment. Walked through the People's Park.
  • Late Morning (11:00 AM): Durian time. The dreaded, revered, and deeply divisive fruit. The smell is… intense. I felt like I might need a gas mask. First bite… okay. Second bite… better. Third bite… actually pretty good! I'm saying it now, I am a durian convert, but the smell is still a bit much.
  • Afternoon (1:00 PM): Shopping. Trying to navigate the chaotic world of Davao City's markets. The prices are great, but the bargaining… I'm not exactly good at it. Ended up buying a ridiculously large hat that I'll probably never wear.
  • Afternoon (3:00 PM): Learning to say "no" to the persistent street vendors. It's hard! Everyone is so friendly and charming. Bought a key ring from a kid because I couldn't say no.
  • Evening (6:00 PM): Dinner at a restaurant known for its grilled chicken. Delicious, but I have a feeling I'll be craving vegetables soon.
  • Evening (8:00 PM): Relaxing at the hotel, contemplating my life choices, and wondering if I’ll ever completely unpack.

(Day 4: The Philippine Eagle Center & Departure Anxiety (and Finding More Durian)

  • Morning (8:00 AM): The Philippine Eagle Center! This is going to be amazing. My camera battery is charged, my heart is full (of anticipation and a slight fear of birds of prey).
  • Mid-Morning (9:00 AM): The eagles! Majestic, powerful, and truly breathtaking. Spent way too long photographing them. The conservation efforts here are amazing. Felt a surge of hope for the future.
  • Late Morning (11:00 AM): Found more durian. At the airport. The smell is starting to feel strangely comforting.
  • Afternoon (1:00 PM): Lunch at the airport. Goodbye, Davao. You have been wonderful, and I miss you already.
  • Afternoon (3:00 PM): Back on the plane. Goodbye to Davao. I had a great time. The city, the people, the food, the adventure… I can’t wait to come back.

(Post-Trip Reflections - Back Home, Covered in Sand, and Dreaming of Lechon)

  • Home: The aftermath. Unpacking the suitcase of chaos. Sorting through a mountain of photos. Already planning my return. I’m covered in sunburn, I’m running on fumes, and my liver is probably screaming, but my soul is happy. Davao City, you magnificent, messy, and utterly unforgettable place. Until next time!

Okay, spill the tea! Is Pinnacle Hotel & Suites REALLY Davao's "Best" Hotel? Don't hold back!

Alright, alright, settle down. "Best" is a subjective beast, right? But listen, I just got back, and... wow. Pinnacle is a strong contender. It's got that air of fancy without being stuffy. Think comfortable luxury. But you know what? Let's rewind a bit. I almost didn't book it. I'd read a couple of reviews that seemed a little... *too* perfect. Made me suspicious. But the photos! The pool looked divine. And the location? Perfect! So I took the plunge.

And the whole 'Davao's best hotel' thing? Well, it’s a BIG statement, I grant you. But honestly? I can see the argument. It's got a lot going for it.

Let's talk about the rooms. Are they actually as nice as the pictures? Because sometimes, let's be honest, it's a catfish situation.

Okay, I'm gonna be brutally honest here. The pictures are good. REALLY good. Buuuuut, they don't capture the sheer comfort of it all. I was in a suite (treat yo' self, people!), and it was… glorious. Okay, maybe a little *too* glorious at first. Felt a little intimidated by the sheer size of the bed. Seriously, I could've held a small conference on that thing!

And the bathroom? The soaking tub was a godsend after a day of exploring (and sweating buckets – that Davao heat is no joke!). The only minor thing? The shower pressure could be a smidge stronger. I had to fight those little jets of water to get fully clean! But hey, that's me being picky. The view from the room was incredible. City lights twinkling at night. Pure bliss.

The Pool! The Pool! Is it as Instagrammable as it looks? And, more importantly, is it actually a good place to, you know, SWIM?

Okay, the pool. THE POOL. It's a selling point, no doubt. And yes, it IS Instagrammable. I’m pretty sure I have enough photos to last me a lifetime. But the best part? It's actually a really *nice* pool. Not some shallow, overcrowded thing. There’s plenty of space to actually swim and cool off. The water was clean, the sun loungers comfy... I spent a solid afternoon there doing absolutely nothing and loving every second. I might have even dozed off a few times. Don't judge me.

One slightly less-than-perfect moment involved a rogue inflatable flamingo. It nearly took me out. But hey, even paradise has its little hiccups, right?

What about the food? Is the restaurant any good? I'm a foodie, and I'm picky!

Food! Okay, this is where things get... complicated. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. Decent selection. The usual suspects – eggs, bacon, pastries, the works. But I was craving something... more. More Davao, you know? More durian (I had my fill!). The coffee was good, though. Needed that caffeine kick in the morning.

The dinner I had at the restaurant was... okay. Nothing to write home about, if I'm honest. Service was a little slow. But the ambiance was lovely. Romantic. You could certainly impress someone there. Its fine, but don’t expect Michelin star quality. Just good, solid hotel restaurant food; the kind that isn't going to disappoint but is going to be quickly forgotten.

Location, location, location! How's it situated? Is it easy to get around?

Location, WIN! Seriously, Pinnacle is bang in the middle of everything. Taxis are easy to grab, and everything is within a short ride. We walked to a few shops! It’s very central, very convenient. Close to malls, restaurants, and the Roxas Avenue nightlife (which, let’s be honest, isn't exactly Miami, but it’s good for Davao!).

The only slight "downside"? Traffic can be a little manic, as Davao is a very active and busy city. But hey, that's the price you pay for being in the heart of the action, right?

The Staff! How were they? Customer service can *make or break* a hotel experience.

Okay, here is where Pinnacle shines. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Always smiling, always helpful. Actually helpful! Like, "above and beyond" helpful. One of them even gave me recommendations for the best place to get *kinilaw* (a Filipino dish, in case you were wondering) -- and then drew me a little map! Seriously, amazing. They seemed genuinely happy to be there, and that made a HUGE difference. The service definitely felt a bit slow at times at the restaurant. That's my only small criticism! But the other staff were incredible.

On another note, I asked the front desk for a phone charger, and they had one in my room in about five minutes! I thought I'd lost mine. It's little things like that that really make a difference.

Any Quirks or Annoying Things? Tell me the TRUTH!

Okay, let’s get real. Every place has its little quirks, right? As mentioned, the shower pressure could be better. And the elevator was a little slow at times, and sometimes you'd have to wait a minute or two to get to your floor if it was a busy time. It was hot and humid, and the air conditioning was a little noisy. But honestly, those are all minor gripes.

Also, I did not like the fact that the mini fridge was empty. No snacks! But I went out and did some shopping, so it was okay. Honestly after having the pool and the staff, that's all forgotten.

So, would you recommend it? Give me the final verdict!

Absolutely. One hundred percent. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Pinnacle Hotel & Suites is a winner. It’s got the location, the comfort, the pool, and the staff to justify the buzz of "best hotel". It ticked all the boxes for me. It's not perfect. Nothing ever is! But it’s about as close as you can get to a perfect Davao hotel experience, in my opinion. Book it. Just book it.
