Goa's Paradise Found: Sea Queen Beach Resort & Spa Awaits!
Goa's Paradise Found: Sea Queen Beach Resort & Spa Awaits! - A Review That's Actually Real
Okay, buckle up buttercups, because I just got back from the Sea Queen Beach Resort & Spa in Goa, and let me tell you, unpacking this experience is like untangling a particularly stubborn ball of yarn. It's complex. And honestly? I need a strong coffee.
First, let's get the practical stuff out of the way. Accessibility is… well, it's Goa. So, picture this: slightly challenging. They do have facilities for disabled guests, which is a huge plus, and the elevator sure helped, but some of the pathways… let’s just say they have character. Still, major points for trying. You can check in using contactless check-in/out, which is great given the current state of…the world. And there's a car park [free of charge] - a lifesaver if you're driving around, but, honestly, I just took a taxi service. Also, airport transfer is offered, which will save you the stress.
Right, caffeine…
Now, the good stuff. The whole vibe, the reason why I chose Sea Queen? The spa. Oh, the spa. I’m talking serious pampering. They have the works: Body scrub, body wrap, foot bath, massage, sauna, spa, spa/sauna, steamroom. Now, I’m not usually one for the whole "lizard-person-in-a-bathrobe" aesthetic, but I dove in headfirst. The pool with a view? Gorg. Seriously. You can just melt into the infinity pool staring at the beach. And the fitness center? It's there. I walked through it. That's… that was enough. Listen, vacations are for relaxing, okay?
Cleanliness and Safety: This is a big deal right now, and Sea Queen is, thankfully, on it. They've got all the buzzwords: Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Hand sanitizer, Hygiene certification, Professional-grade sanitizing services, Rooms sanitized between stays, Safe dining setup, Sanitized kitchen and tableware etc etc. It's reassuring, and you feel like they actually care. There are also first aid kits and a doctor/nurse on call, just in case. The staff is trained in safety protocol - they all wear masks and are very respectful. They also have fire extinguishers and smoke alarms which adds to the feeling of security. And the staff trained in safety protocol is visible, very discreet.
Food, Glorious Food! Where do I even begin? This is where the real drama unfolded. They have plenty of restaurants, including Asian cuisine in restaurant and vegetarian restaurants. The breakfast [buffet] is a must. Okay, so, I have a thing for breakfast buffets. And this one? Chef's kiss. I'm pretty sure I single-handedly kept the coffee shop afloat for a week. Oh, and the buffet in the restaurant also included several international delicacies. It's what vacation dreams are made of, even in an age of Covid. The a la carte in restaurant options were also superb. There is also a poolside bar, Happy hour, and snack bar. I also took advantage of the room service [24-hour] feature a few times (because, you know, comfort). I really enjoyed the bottle of water left in the room every day.
The Room (aka My Cozy Little Bunker): Okay, so my room? It wasn’t just a room; it was a sanctuary. They have non-smoking rooms, which, as a non-smoker, I deeply appreciate. It had air conditioning (thank god, because Goa is HOT), free Wi-Fi (in all rooms, people! Rejoice!), a mini-bar (essential), a coffee/tea maker (winning!), a safe box, and a balcony with a view. My bed was so comfy, I almost didn't want to leave – almost. The bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch, and the complimentary tea was fantastic. Even the reading light was thoughtfully placed. The blackout curtains were a lifesaver for those epic midday naps. Also, it was so quiet! Soundproof rooms FTW!
Now, a confession: I did have one tiny hiccup. The first night, the alarm clock was a little… enthusiastic. Woke me up at 3 am. But I quickly learned how to silence it and it wasn't a huge deal. I think the next day I also put the Do Not Disturb on the door and no one bothered me until I checked out, which was perfect. The mirror was a little small too, which was fine.
Things to Do & Ways to Relax Beyond the Spa: Beyond the spa, Sea Queen offers plenty of other ways to occupy your time. There's swimming pool [outdoor], obviously. Family/child friendly with babysitting service for those traveling with kids. Sea Queen also has banquet facilities if you' planning a major event. And, for the business-minded, there is a business center with business facilities, meeting/banquet facilities, and even a Xerox/fax in business center. Seriously, this place has it all.
The Little Things That Matter: Okay, so let's talk about the "nice-to-haves." They have a concierge that’s super helpful, even though the first day I asked for something completely, hopelessly lost in translation. The daily housekeeping was a godsend. There is cashless payment service and luggage storage, for when you're still enjoying the place even after check-out. It's what adds to the convenience. There's a convenience store, but let's be honest, who wants to be buying snacks at convenience store prices when you're on vacation? I still used it, and it's great the place has one.
Getting Around: No, you can park your car there, but, I recommend the taxi services. Also, there is bicycle parking and car power charging station.
The Imperfections: This isn't a review without the imperfections. I have to be honest. The luggage storage was well-managed. There was also a few times I didn't feel like dealing with the front desk, but, honestly, the people were helpful. Now, here's a real moment of truth. There's a shrine. I'm not sure what that's for. I didn't use it, but good on them for making it there.
Final Verdict: So, would I recommend the Sea Queen Beach Resort & Spa? Absolutely. It’s not perfect, but what is? It’s comfortable, relaxing, and the staff genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay. It's a great base to explore Goa from. I would certainly go back for the spa, the breakfast buffet, and general “escape-from-reality” vibes.

Unbelievable Dalat Escape: Tam An Homestay Awaits!
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because this isn't your sanitized, cookie-cutter itinerary. This is MY Goa, MY Sea Queen escapade, warts and all. Prepare for a rollercoaster… or maybe a slightly tipsy rickshaw ride, depending on how the feni hits.
Sea Queen Beach Resort & SPA, Goa: My Messy, Magnificent Adventure
Day 1: Touchdown, Tumble, and Tropical Tantrums (sort of)
- 10:00 AM - Arrival & Initial Panic: Landed in Goa! Sun, sand, and the immediate feeling I'd forgotten something vital. Like, suncream. Or my brain. The airport was chaos – lovely chaos, mind you, with more sari-clad women than I’ve seen in my entire life, all chattering like a flock of exotic birds.
- Transportation: Taxi to the Sea Queen. The driver, a sweet older guy with a permanent twinkle in his eye, tried to educate me about the local flora. I failed to retain any information, mostly because I was staring at the bougainvillea-draped houses.
- 11:30 AM - Check-In & Bungalow Bliss (and Minor Bungalow Mishaps): Sea Queen is… well, it's beautiful. The receptionist, a girl with a name like a Bollywood star (I’m terrible with names, mind you, so I've probably got it wrong), was all smiles and efficiency. My bungalow? Lush. A little too lush – the mosquito net had a giant hole, guaranteed to be a party invitation for those bloodthirsty little buggers. Added to the "to do" list. Sigh.
- 1:00 PM - Lunch & Beachside Bliss: Finally, time to eat. The resort restaurant overlooks the beach. Ordered fish and chips, which was a major letdown, but the view! Oh, the view. The Arabian Sea shimmered, the waves whispering secrets, and I vowed to spend the whole afternoon sprawled out on a sun lounger like an overripe mango.
- 2:00 PM - Sunbathing & Existential Dread (briefly): Found a prime sunbathing spot, then that existential dread came. Why do I travel? What's the meaning of life? Turns out, it was just the direct sun. Found shade. Sorted.
- 5:00 PM - Beach Stroll of Discovery and Chocolate Obsession: Wandered along the beach. The sand was like warm sugar under my feet, I tried to kick some around, but my balance is poor, so that wasn't pretty. Witnessed a breathtaking sunset. Bought a chocolate, probably paid too much, but absolutely no regrets.
- 7:00 PM - Dinner & Feni Fizz: Dinner at the resort again, which actually wasn't bad this time! Then, I made a huge mistake, and tried Feni. It was a bit like drinking gasoline, but with a fruity aftertaste. It was probably a bad idea to try it after a bottle of wine. Made some new friends that I probably won't remember.
Day 2: Spa, Spillage, and Spiritual Skirmishes
- 9:00 AM - The SPA! (YES!): This is what I came for. The spa was amazing, it felt like going to heaven. Bliss. My massage therapist was like a magician, and I went there with back pain and left in a soft, relaxed daze.
- 11:00 AM - Poolside "Relaxation" and Liquid Fury: I intended to relax by the pool. Instead? I spilt an entire iced coffee down myself. And the sun was making me sweat. It wasn’t glamorous. But eventually I recovered and managed to find a peaceful spot.
- 12:00 PM - Exploring the Local Area: I convinced myself to take a tour. I tried to bargain, and promptly failed. I saw the local temples, which were beautiful, the markets, which were overwhelming, and the spice plantations, which smelled incredible.
- 3:00 PM - Lunch and a Fight of the Mind: Quick lunch at a tiny, bustling cafe. The food was incredible, but the heat was starting to get to me. I was irritated. Not a great look for a tourist. I reminded myself to breathe.
- 4:00 PM - Beach Bumming and Reflections: Back to the beach to people-watch and contemplate the sheer audacity of seagulls. They’re basically sky-rats, aren’t they? Still, they added to the atmosphere.
- 7:00 PM - Dinner, Feni Round Two… (Oh dear…): Dinner! This time I was sensible, I promised. But "sensible" and "Feni" don't exactly go together. Let's just say Day 3 might be a write-off.
Day 3: Recovering, Regretting, and Relishing
- 9:00 AM - Pancake Panic & Hangover Hell: Woke up. Felt like a bus had run over me. Ordered pancakes, which turned out to be the only thing I could stomach. Spent the morning swearing off alcohol forever… (until, of course, the next evening).
- 11:00 AM - The Beach - A Slow Re-entry: The beach seemed extra bright. Walked down to the beach, very slowly. Found a quiet spot and actually managed to read a book for a whole hour (which is a personal best).
- 1:00 PM - Late Lunch: Some simple, bland rice and dhal. Thank god for dhal, or I would have been crying.
- 2:00 PM - Reflection and A Moment of Peace: Sitting in my bungalow, re-evaluating every life choice up to this point. It was like a reset button had been pressed.
- 4:00 PM - Sunset, Part 2 (With Less Feni): Went to the sunset again. It never gets old.
- 7:00 PM - Dinner, and Goodbyes: Dinner at an amazing local restaurant, with a fantastic meal. I said goodbyes to my new-made friends, promising to stay in touch (which everyone knows means you never will).
Day 4: Departure (and a Promise to Return - Maybe)
- 9:00 AM - Breakfast & Final Farewell: One last breakfast overlooking the sea. It was the perfect moment.
- 10:00 AM - Check-Out & Taxi Troubles (Again): Saying goodbye was surprisingly difficult. Then came the tax. My driver, a different one this time, got lost on the way. Typical. Arrived at the airport just in the nick of time.
- 11:00 AM - Travel Home: Waving goodbye to the sea, I smiled.
- 12:00 AM - Arrival HOME: Home. Time to unpack, buy more sunscreen, and start planning my return. Goa, you magnificent, chaotic mess! I'll be back (probably).
